Free Entry Route

LAST UPDATED 15 JULY 2026

Every Covered Club Competition can be entered for free by post. A free postal entry has the same chance of winning as any paid entry. Here's how it works.

1. What to send

On a postcard, or a sheet of paper in an envelope, clearly write or type:

  • your full legal name;
  • your full UK postal address (not a PO Box);
  • your email address, if you have one;
  • your phone number (optional);
  • your date of birth, to confirm you're 18 or over; and
  • the name of the Competition you want to enter (for example, "Food Shop Friday — Week of [date]").

Please write clearly. If we can't read your postcard, we may not be able to process it.

2. Where to send it

Post your entry by first or second class Royal Mail to:

3. When it needs to arrive

Each Competition has one Entry Period, identical for the paid and the free routes. To be entered into a particular Draw, your postal entry needs to be with us (or our scrutineer) by 5pm on the day (day prior on a calendar month) before the Draw. The Draw takes place at least two business days after the Entry Period closes, so postal entries have time to arrive.

If your postal entry arrives after the deadline for one Competition, we'll enter it into the next equivalent Competition where the deadline hasn't passed — or return it, whichever we think is best.

4. How many free entries can I send?

One entry per postcard or envelope. There's no minimum and no fee. The per-Competition entry limit on the entry page applies to paid and free combined — you can't exceed it by mixing the two.

5. Cost

You'll pay for the postcard, envelope and stamp. Beyond that, nothing. We don't receive any of that cost.

6. Your chance of winning

Every valid entry — postal or paid — goes into the same Draw. The Draw is run by randomdraws.co.uk, an independent certified draw provider, and a draw certificate is published for every Competition. A free postal entry has exactly the same chance of winning as any paid entry. If a free postal entry wins, no payment is needed.

7. Who can enter

You need to:

  • be aged 18 or over;
  • be a legal UK resident;
  • not be an employee, officer, director or contractor of ours, our scrutineer, our draw provider or another third party we use to run a Competition, or a member of their immediate household; and
  • not be self-excluded under our Responsible Play Policy.

8. What we do with your details

We use the information on your postcard to run the Draw and to contact you if you win. Everything is handled under our Privacy Policy. We keep the physical postcard for 90 days after the Draw, then destroy it securely — unless we need to keep it longer for audit or to defend a claim.

9. If you win

We'll contact you using the email, phone or postal address on your postcard, within 24 hours of the Draw. You need to respond within 96 hours, complete identity verification within 7 working days (extendable if you need it), and accept the Prize. The full winner process is in our Consumer Terms and Conditions, section 13.

10. The full rules

This page is a summary for ease of use. The full rules are in our Consumer Terms and Conditions at joincoveredclub.com/terms. If this page and the Consumer Terms and Conditions appear to conflict, the Consumer Terms and Conditions prevail.
